Life in the Backcountry

There was not much to the backcountry. The climate varied from place to
place, and farming was hard because it was nothing but woods and streams. It
was also swampy which made it even harder to farm. Most people who lived in
this area were newly weds and indentured servents, due to the lack of land
because of the very wealthy. There was also some Native Americans around,
though not many. They were generally peaceful if you only wished to trade with
them. Once it started to get too populated, people started to take from them,
causing more disputes between the colonists and Native Americans.
